Alternatively a user can add an icon to their own workstation with the following instructions:

1. Open your internet browser

2. Navigate to app.qualaris.com

3. Enter your username and password to login (if necessary)

4. Once Qualaris has loaded, drag the small Qualaris icon next to the url to your desktop (shown below)

V. Recommended Mobile Collection Hardware

Planning for additional tablets

Sites interested in facilitating easy audit collection across their organization can purchase additional tablets for use with Qualaris. A common setup with Qualaris’ customers is to purchase a tablet for each unit and a tablet for key groups (e.g. infection control, quality, environmental services, etc.).

Recommended tablets

Qualaris recommends using the 16GB wifi first generation iPad mini (non retina display) that costs $249. This is the most economical version. The iPad mini is also an excellent size in terms of portability and one-handed usage.

Here is a link to the Apple store page for this product: http://store.apple.com/us/buy-ipad/ipad-mini

Note on other tablet brands

Qualaris is a web application and can be used on most browsers, meaning other tablets besides iPads can be used. We are currently working to verify full compatibility before officially recommending them, but the Nexus 7 Android tablet from Google can be a lower-cost option.

Setting up your purchased tablets

Using a new tablet with Qualaris requires only a few steps:

1. Connecting the tablet to the internet

A brand new tablet will require some basic setup before it is connected to the internet. Follow the onscreen instructions that are shown when the tablet is first turned on, and when prompted to connect to a wifi network, find the correct network and enter the password if required. The specific network to connect to and the appropriate password should be obtained from the person responsible for your institution's internal network network.

2. Accessing Qualaris

Accessing Qualaris simply requires using a web browser to access app.qualaris.com. Qualaris can be added to the iPad home screen to allow easy, convenient access. For instructions on adding Qualaris to the home screen see the article in the Knowledge Base "Adding the Qualaris Icon to the Home Screen".
